Lisbon Choral Festival

Festival + Porto + Salamanca & Madrid Tour Itinerary
DAY 1 - Tuesday, June 29, 2027 - USA + PORTUGAL
The journey to Portugal begins by boarding an international flight to Lisbon, Portugal’s
hilly, coastal capital city. Snacks and meals will be served on the plane.

DAY 2 - Wednesday, June 30, 2027 - ARRIVE LISBON + WELCOME DINNER (D)
Upon arrival in Lisbon, meet with your Tour Manager and coach. Time permitting you'll
take a panoramic city tour. Lisbon is known for its historic charm and architecture, hilly
coastal landscape, and grand squares. Welcome dinner and overnight in Lisbon.

DAY 3 - Thursday, July 1, 2027 - REHEARSALS + CITY SIGHTSEEING (B,D)
You'll have a 3-hr morning rehearsal today followed by a guided sightseeing tour of
Lisbon. Popular sights in the city include St. Jeronimos Monastery, Belem Tower, São
Jorge Castle, the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril
suspension bridge. The magnificent St. Jeronimos monastery includes St. Jeronimos
Church which was built in the 1500s. Its cloisters are considered among the most beautiful
in the world and it is the resting place of explorer Vasco da Gama. Belém Tower was built
in the 16th century and served as a fortified structure to defend Lisbon’s harbor. The tower
is an iconic symbol of Portuguese maritime exploration and is now classified as a UNESCO
World Heritage site. Lunch will be on your own. In the evening you'll have a 3-hr rehearsal.
Dinner and overnight in Lisbon.

DAY 4 - Friday, July 2, 2027 - MORNING REHEARSAL + DRESS REHEARSAL + GALA
CONCERT (B,D)

This morning you'll have a 1.5hr rehearsal for the choir only. Eat lunch on your own
before an afternoon dress rehearsal at the concert venue. Following the rehearsal you'll
have dinner and change into concert attire. This evening you'll perform in the Lisbon
Choral Festival Gala Concert. Overnight in Lisbon.

DAY 5 - Saturday, July 3, 2027 - COIMBRA + SALAMANCA (B,D)
Transfer today to Salamanca, Spain with a stop en route to visit Coimbra, Portugal’s former
capital city and home to the historic University of Coimbra. Built on the grounds of a
former palace, the university is famed for its baroque library, the Biblioteca Joanina, and
its 18th-century bell tower. You'll take a tour of the university library before continuing to
Salamanca for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 - Sunday, July 4, 2027 - SALAMANCA SIGHTSEEING + MADRID (B,D)
This morning you'll take a sightseeing tour of Salamanca and visit the Old and New
Cathedral. The Old Cathedral, dating from the 12th-13th centuries, is in the Romanesque
style and features the Gallo Tower and the San Martín or Oil Chapel. The New Cathedral
was constructed between 1533 and 1733 and is one of the largest cathedrals in Spain with
the tallest bell tower. Because the two cathedrals have an adjacent wall and share a bell
tower, they are usually just referred to simply as the Salamanca Cathedral. Lunch will be
on your own. In the afternoon you'll transfer to Madrid for dinner and overnight.
NOTE - CONCERT MAY MOVE TO THIS NIGHT

DAY 7 - Monday, July 5, 2027 - MADRID SIGHTSEEING + PRADO + AFTERNOON
LEISURE + CONCERT (B)

Today you'll take a guided sightseeing tour of Madrid that will include a visit to the
Prado. Madrid is Spain’s central capital and a city of elegant boulevards and expansive,
manicured parks. It’s renowned for its rich repositories of European art. The Prado is
Spain’s main national art museum and one of the world's leading art galleries with works
by Velázquez, Goya, El Greco, Titian, Rubens and Hieronymus Bosch. Lunch will be on
your own. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure for independent activities. In the evening there
will be an opportunity for a formal concert for fully balanced choirs (not included in the
tour package price). Dinner on your own and overnight in Madrid.

DAY 8 - Tuesday, July 6, 2027 - TOLEDO EXCURSION + SANTO TOME + CATHEDRAL +
FAREWELL DINNER (B,D)

Enjoy an excursion today to Toledo, an ancient city set on a hill above the plains of Castilla-
La Mancha in central Spain. The capital of the region, it’s known for the medieval Arab,
Jewish and Christian monuments in its walled old city. You'll visit Santo Tome Church and
the Toledo Cathedral. Santo Tome Church dates from the 14th century and features a
Mudéjar tower. It is best known for housing El Greco’s most famous painting, “The Burial
of Count Orgaz.” The Toledo Cathedral is one of only three 13th century Gothic cathedrals
in Spain and a premier example of Spanish Gothic architecture. Return to Madrid for a
farewell dinner and overnight.

DAY 9 - Wednesday, July 7, 2027 - MADRID + USA (B)
After breakfast, you'll transfer to the airport in Madrid to begin your journey back to the
USA, taking with you memories of exploring and performing in Portugal and Spain.
